Compression testing is a bit hit and miss and doesn't pinpoint the problem. Good advice below. However, if you suspect rings are broken/worn or valves aren't sealing properly, or even a leaking head gasket, a "leak down test" is more accurate in diagnosing the problem. Might need to go to a good mechanic if you haven't got the gear. Videos on You Tube explain. Suprised that he didn't mention the altitude effect on compression readings here in Denver. Makes about a 15% difference and definitely affects jetting. Some of you may have gotten a taste of that at the Golden meet. ----- Original Message ----- From: "RICK AND DEBBIE CLAPHAM" <rixpac@xxxxxxx <mailto:rixpac%40msn.com> > To: <mgoodknight@xxxxxxxx <mailto:mgoodknight%40juno.com> >; "Rich Barber" <c300@xxxxxxx <mailto:c300%40ez2.net> > Cc: <mmoore8425@xxxxxxx <mailto:mmoore8425%40aol.com> >; <chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:chrysler300%40yahoogroups.com> > Sent: Friday, November 09, 2012 6:22 AM Subject: RE: [Chrysler300] Compression pressure , 300H > > I agree with everything written on the compression testing.
