Doug, The max machining allowed is usually embossed on the drum. Always cut the least amount needed to clean them. Hard spotted drums can be ground but the spots will remain, and eventually resurface. I own and use a shoe arching machine manufactured By Anco. as well as the drum lathe. I do not have the arbor to cut the rear drums. He has a 1962 Chrysler Conv. - any suggestions? As I recall 0.080 is the max - at least in Calif. Doug Warrener Fair Oaks, CA 300H 62-300 Sport Conv.
