Forcing you to put the GPS unit below the dash also forces you to take
your eyes completely off the road when you look at it - not the best thing if
you ask me. If obstruction of view is the concern, I would suggest that a
Garmin unit takes up little more room of your view than an EZ Pass unit and
at least when you are looking at it, your eyes can still be seeing the
road in front of you.
Has anyone actually checked the NYS motor vehicle laws to confirm that
mounting the unit anywhere on the windshield is a violation?????

I agree with the NYS 'above the dash' law. I would find it very distracting
to have a brightly colored screen in my line of vision. Wish CT would
adopt
same.
I keep mine on a little shelf below the radio of my daily driver. Not
visible from outside the car and I can stick it in my pocket when I leave
the car on the street or in a parking lot. As long as I can hear it, I'm
good to go.
