Folks,
A couple of weeks ago I asked about a
reproduction gas tank for a 1968 New Yorker. Most answers were to try
Van's, which I did.
The tank is under the car, and seems to be
very comparable to the original tank, minus the inside corrosion problems.
Shipping was prompt, etc. I understand he was down to just a couple of
those tanks, so if anyone needs one for the same year group, may want to move
out smartly and get the remaining one. Alternatively, wait a while for his
new batch which will be coming sometime in the future.
Thanks, to all who responded. Back in
1996, when the original tank was in trouble, there were no reproduction tanks
for that and the only apparent option was to have Gas Tank Renu clean and coat
it. The coating was now letting go in an area about the size of a
baseball, and releasing a white powdery corrosion from the underlying
galvanizing that was then clogging the pickup tube sock, and starving the car
for fuel.
