If they're coming off, you've probably got one of the following problems:
- The tabs on the back of the hubcap are no longer sharp enough or tight enough to grab the rim properly. Make sure they are all bent back and even. - The rims are in poor condition and through age/fatigue, they are flexing more than they should, allowing the cap to pop off when stressed. - Your hub is not seated on the bearings as tightly as it should be or your lug nuts aren't evenly torqued, allowing the rim to flex more than it should. (Seems hard to believe but I've experienced this. Once the play in the hub was taken up, the hubcaps never came off again)

inconvenient times-like when driving? I have had the problem several times now,
and in all cases they were fully installed and not at all loose before the trip.
Luckely I heard them depart & was able to get them back, but I can't rely on
luck forever. Any ideas?
