My brother John Goodknight bought his '55 300 at the end of 1961 while a sophomore in college and not yet married. Several years later he moved from Florida to Texas with his wife of 4years to continue his higher education. My sister-in-law's story of the 300 was that she grew to "hate" the car because it was big and awkward for her, but mostly because it was the only car they had that would always run,so she had to drive it almost every day commuting to the small town where she was teaching school. Their other cars during that era were a '66 Coronet 2-dr ht 361 and a '68 Dodge Polara 4dr ht 440. Each of them had been trouble prone.
He and She and the 300 are still together, so I guess she really didn't "hate" it so much.
Marshall Goodknight also a '55 300 nut

Soccer moms were not invented when the letter cars were new. They would not be driving such an impractical car even if they were.
