Typically you would run the trans cooler in series with the radiator cooler because most auxiliary coolers are not designed to handle the task alone. The only real drawback to this is related to overheating events where you are still transferring heat between the transmission and the engine rather than separating the two.
If you were to rely soley on a stand-alone cooler, you must ensure you always have adequate air flow by placing it in front of the rad or providing an auxiliary electric fan to keep the air moving while the vehicle is stationary. In this case I'd recommend adding a trans temperature gauge as well. My '65 300 has a factory power steering cooler but no additional trans cooler or oil cooler. I'm not sure what the rationale for that was, maybe someone ticked the wrong box, or forgot one, on the order sheet. The final trans guy told me the original pan was good for about 3 or 4 times coming off. After that, the edges get so warped, 3 different places couldn’t stop the leak. I replaced the pan with an aftermarket aluminum one and presto! no leaks.

Subject: [Chrysler300] Engine mounts and 300H Transmissions Al 727 I picked up my car this morning with its replaced engine and tranny mounts . I had an NOS RF and a used LF, plus a new tranny mount from Jeff Carter. The reason I changed them out was that
I believe the engine wassitting too low which is hopefully why my fan blade was clipping the lower part of the shroud which happened after I changed out my fan clutch!
I was very surprised at the difference the "new" engine mounts made in terms of smoothness of idle ??? All I can imagine is that the engine rocking around was modulating the throttle linkage.
But now there's another issue to be resolved. transmission fluid leaks.
My mechanic (in the top 20 of 1900 in the Bay area) added dye to the transmission this morning.
Tomorrow morning we will look for leaks on his rack.
Does any one have suggestions for the most common source of leaks?
Also, if it does have to come out and go to a shop he recommends to be resealed, does anyone know, or is there a club publication
about the differences between a 727 and a 300H 727? (I am anticipating a call about needing a rebuild etc. I really do trust this shop, even though the owner is Corvette afficianado :-)).
