I didn’t see my problem identified and I bet it has happened to others. My 300H temp gauge would get alarmingly hot. At the same time, the oil pressure gauge would drop. After a custom radiator, biggest fans bade i could find, new clutch, heavy duty water pump and every other thing that was suggested I discovered the solution. On a summer day, in my garage, with the engine idling, I was charging the A/C. I had to get inside the car to check the temp coming out of the ducts a few times. I noticed my heat gauge was nearly pegged one way, and the oil pressure was zilch. Back to the engine, and I realized-that engine was N OT showing any signs of being overheated. After all that, it turned out there is an instrument voltage regulator which controls both the oil and temp gauge. Mine was bad. I replaced and my engine never overheated again.
