Hi Keith-
The 300J engines were all stamped C300J on the ID pad along with a build
date such as 2-21-63.
Your decoding of your engine is correct but I have to agree with the max
wedge guys that it makes no sense. As far as I know the TMP designation
was only used on the 426 Super stock Plymouth and Dodge engines, and TMP-HC
would be the 13.5:1 compression ratio 425 horse version (as opposed to the 11:1
compression ratio 373hp or 415hp version without “HC”). The actual
format was 426-TMP-HC followed by a date such as 9-12-62. This is per
Chrysler factory service bulletin no.63-1A dated 12/19/62. They were
all 426 blocks however.
T41 and 9-12 (no year) is the standard designation for the 1963 413.
The “HP” stamped version is not too uncommon (high performance 360 horse) but I
have never heard of a TMPHC stamped on a 1963 413 engine at least for a
Chrysler. Whether or not a TMPHC offering on a 413 was made later in the
model year for Dodge or Plymouth I do not know. Either way it sounds like
one rare and desirable engine!
I am copying the Chrysler 300 Club International listserver to see if
anyone has any further insight, and whether or not someone can help you with
your 300G parts search. Please consider joining our club as there is a lot
of expertise on the 300G available in the club. By the way, do we have your G
serial number recorded? We like to track all the surviving letter cars
since, as you know, they are rare brutes.
Best,
