Went to Reny's Cruise In (Belfast, Maine) Friday afternoon in the 300L. Parked it, and went to Reny's shopping for a new winter jacket. Came back to the L, and there was a dad with two boys looking at the thing pretty intently. They looked inside and at the dashboard, and they studied the taillights and then the front. They wanted the hood up to see what was down there. And they were either incredibly polite (I mean incredibly) or really interested that this thing wasn't a Chevy or a Ford, and they wanted to know about it, and then its heritage.
They were either really polite or really interested to see the photos of the 300B I once owned and took to several of our meets, and with those photos, the cross ram motors and the astro-dome dashes and the fins and toilet seats that abound at our meets. They hung out with me for about 15 minutes. They really liked the car and the history and the stories. That gave me joy, which is what I report here. Of course, I'm also reminded of the Joy who sat in front of me in high school home room--all years--and who wore White Rain perfume. It was distracting. I think the the thoughts she and it cause would be classed prurient. But I digress. The joy last Friday at people excited about letter cars was neat.D.Doug MayerNorthport, Mainesent from my older iMac
