Like Mark, I am also looking for the RFI-suppression condenser on the generator. My need is for a 1957 300C, but I suspect that the part would have been the same for any model or year close to 1957; i.e., any Dodge, Chrysler, DeSoto, Imperial or Plymouth with a 12 volt generator (I think alternators are internally suppressed and don't have this part, but I may be mistaken). I've seen photos of this condenser on other 300C's -- it looks to be the old-style reddish-brown paper-wrapped type (not a metal body like in the distributor) about 5/8-inch diameter by about 1-1/4" long, with the pigtail going to the armature post and grounded to a screw on the generator body. My spec book says it is rated at .3 MFD, although there is some possibility that the "decimal point" I see is merely an artifact in my old, worn copy -- I see that a radio noise suppression condenser for a similar-vintage Chevy is currently available with a rating of 5 microfarads. My capacitor is entirely missing, and since a capacitor is not a typically failure-prone item, I would be happy with a part off of any such vintage vehicle that anyone would care to part with. And for example, if anyone knows of a radio-equipped car (prefer Mopar, but others would probably do as well) of this vintage in a salvage yard somewhere, I would appreciate a lead to that place. Yeah, I know it's a really minor concern, but it would be nice to get it right! Now that it seems like most of the "big stuff" is behind me in the restoration of my late father's 300C, it's a relief to be able to finally focus on such trivial details! And besides, who needs to listen to the radio in a convertible when you have that big Hemi talking to you?!
