Not to change the subject toooooo much. That would also be true for window motor motors, correct?

You must realize that the lubrication for the motor bearings are the same age as the gear box.  Probably a large percentage of the motors power is used to overcome the drag of it's own bearings.  Ideally the motor should be disassembled, bearings cleaned and relubed.

Hello All --

Now that the electrics are activated in my 1957 300C, I am encountering
some questions regarding the windshield wipers and the washer system.

1) The wipers seem to have only two speeds: slow and VERY slow -- and
not much difference between the two! Is that "normal" for this car?
Multimeter shows strong 12.5 volts to the motor and all pivot points in
the mechanism are recently cleaned and lubed.
2) The wipers do not "park" when shut off -- I have to turn the switch
off at just the right instant to get them stopped at full down
position. Is that right? All other wipers that I am familiar with have
a "park" function built into the motor. Do I perhaps have a partially
defective wiper motor?
3) The car was equipped with the Jiffy-Jet washer bag and foot pump,
but the old hoses were age-cracked and broken off so I don't know
exactly how the hoses (larger diameter from washer fluid bag, smaller
diameter up to squirter on hood) are routed, and especially how and
where they connect to the plastic 3-port distribution valve. Can anyone
send me a link to a good diagram (or photos) showing those different
hose sizes and routing to/from the washer pump, fluid bag, 3-way valve
and underhood squirter? Where is that 3-way valve supposed to mount?
We presently have it clamped at the rearmost mounting foot for the brake
vacuum canister on the left fenderwell.
