To date just the rears seem to be affected, and only in some cases. I
installed four KYB rears on two vehicles, and one on each went bad. So,
put the two good ones on one vehicle and NOS Monroes on the other. The
extended length of the KYB rears is noticeably shorter than the Monroes.
Our guess was that perhaps with the rear end dangling that excessive strain was
being put on the seals. That and possibly the seals are not of the highest
quality anymore. Imagine that.
The
solution for changing a tire is to use two jacks, one under the frame and one
under the diff to keep the rear from fully dangling. Carl

Update
Bob,
If that's the case, KYBs should
be avoided entirely. How would you change a flat?
This is a major problem, We shouldn't be recommending these
shocks. Bob.
