Ok, thank you George. I was looking at hood latch, thinking about pop open thing. One idea I had was to not change anything, but add a 3/16" stainless loop wire off bottom bolts, snap hook into stainless eye at top , both attached with existing bolt locations. Thinking, not laid out precisely yet. Frankly, from engineering look, a very poor hood catch design, can see why it would pop right through the second catch, due to lots of upward momentum, lots of weight and wind uplift at high speed. Do not need that,...could easily work out of first catch by vibration, popup flat spring aiding that sequence by pushing upwards while vibrating . If second factory catch plate bent (deformed) upwards even a little when slammed upwards by jumping the first catch, flat back end of hood pin would force it back, radially out, hood pin might deflect too, to one side , away we go . Understand now, that pix of C with rope in eye bolts around hood. Must have happened to them. Needs a safety catch, like the 70 hemi hood pins concept ...those mostly for show. Saw a C in NM with more elaborate (?factory race?) double side catch, ------that and no push up spring was in mine (smart?) . Did not want to modify with later separate catch, looked at Dodge Truck, Dart, nice secondary J catch, does not fit very well, do not want to drill parts. Springs keep it up, now we gotta keep it down. Maybe a club project? Horror show beyond belief if it opens at speed on 100 point car. -----Original Message----- From: George McKovich [mailto:george@xxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, January 13, 2015 11:43 AM To: John Grady Subject: Hood springs John I shipped the hood springs yesterday.
