You could order special colors and interior as the other letter cars. I’ve seen a green coupe several years ago from the mid-west that sold. If I’m not mistaken, one of our club members has a special order H.

This would lend also to the previous conversation about original colors vs. restorer's choice. The 300H was not offered in Jade Green, only black, white, red or tan.

There are several 300 letter cars for sale and in that group a 1962 300H in Jade green with a jade green interior. Looks great, updated brake system and if we would check more closely there are probably other items as well.

How would one find out what the vin numbers are on these cars?

In one building he had 150 convertibles and in another building he had 100 to 125 hrdtps. He passed away this past summer and now all of the cars (248) are going to be auctioned off the end of Feb. by Meccum. The cars are in decent shape and I know there is at least a C300 and a 300 there along with just about anything else you could imagine including 3 Ford retractable, several Cadillac converts and about a dozen Rolls-Royces. I believe the sale is either the 27th or 28th of Feb or possibly both days. I'm sure Meccum will have it on their website. Good luck to anyone interested. We're going to go and see how things turn out.

Scottsdale BJ no reserve unless they agree your car is worth $500k. At their Vegas auction it's $150k. Russo Steele allows reserves but makes suggestions. They sent a rep out to look at three of my cars, spent four hours and days later got back to me with a suggested reserve. Their response was that "they're there to sell cars not host a car show". I get that but in a questionable market if I needed to sell the choice between a low reserve at Russo and no reserve at Barrett I'd go with Barrett.

I guess the answer is that if you have a really nice letter car and want to sell it, you should at least consider BJ. Of course, if you sell it there the proceeds may be taxable whereas if you sell it privately, uncle will probably not know about the sale.

IMHO - I think you would be dreaming to think the price of other G's just rose anywhere near 20% based on one car's sale, especially if G owners begin to test the market and flood it with inventory. There just aren't the buyers out there to support the demand at that price point, even as investments. Even if it pushes prices 20% higher it's heading in a positive direction. It's not unlike a comp for real estate, supply vs demand. If the BJ auction begins to set a tone and begin the wave then be ready for the ride. Right after the auction a neighbor (classic car guy) of mine calls me and tells me about the sale then says "your car is really valuable Matt, it's easy to thing it's worth less!" If the car is marketed right, at the right venue you might hit it right.
