I have to say, I'm with Mike and Ray. Whatever's easiest for the much-appreciated volunteers gets my vote.
And, in my opinion, broadcasting everything to all on the list has some distinct advantages. For example, I was searching for a correctly date-stamped block for my F, which due to the generosity and assistance of some of the members I was able to obtain. That might not have happened if my request was "categorized" and perhaps put in a section where those helping me may not have noticed. Also, on many occasions I have picked up a tip that I might not have gone searching for, but nevertheless was valuable.
At the most, on a very widely discussed subject, I think I may have received 30 emails in one day. And if I'm not interested in the topic, I can delete them in less than 15 seconds. I belong to several groups as well, and that's the way all of them work, although I'm sure there are many formats which might work just as well.
I'm not trying to generate controversy, nor am I stuck in the dark ages, but I really like the way the list-server works (except I wish we could post pictures). Anyway, those are my thoughts.

I appreciate the site and am more than pleased with the way it works. Like most others, I also belong to several other message boards, forums etc for auto, genealogical and military groups, and they are all different. I know of no standard which says they need to all comply to a common format. Again, I really appreciate the effort being done by volunteers of our club to provide this service. My car is muchbetter for it and so am I. I am all for doing whatever is the easiest for those volunteers. It’s not about the format. It’s about the cars and the members. Mike Moore

Hi there,
Having become accustomed to such, I find the “List Server”
approach to be unwieldy. Having dozens of emails a week, a few
pertaining to my interests but many more not, becomes burdensome to me.
Has anyone from the group examined what it would take to transform the
interface to one like the examples given? Please don’t misunderstand my
intent, I love the depth of knowledge and insight that is available, but would
like to go to a site and pursue the subjects of my choosing, rather than be
force-fed a bulky mass of emails every day.
I also think it would be a great way to selectively
“subscribe” to conversations that are of interest without broadcasting to
those who do not wish to see that traffic. If it requires an initial
investment, I would be willing to participate in an assessment to get it off
of the ground.
There could be tabs for pictures of our cars, classifieds,
contact information, event updates, vendor links, etc., which I think would
concentrate and enliven our interaction.
