You might also check the carburetor throttle plates
& screws. They can work loose and cause the throttle to stick closed
or wot.

I second that,
Marshall. ..it happened to me. Someone adjusted the rods incorrectly , it goes
over center and locks up solid at WOT ; you have to set up pedal linkage by the
book, the precise angle of pedal at rest and also how the TF link is working .
Might be a good idea to add a stop , on center bellcrank not sure there was one?
Being aware of
this possibility ought to be on our web site in big red letters. Nothing to do
with BIG RED, of course , aka , the golden screwdriver (wrench) did it.
The same gold screwdriver that ruins idle mixture screw seats?it will lock I
think with engine off if you step hard enough, if way out, but I think somehow
engine torque movement may add to this.. Check engin e mounts?

mgoodknight@xxxxxxxx [Chrysler300] Hi Hugh, Here's what I think is your most likely problem. I
experienced that situation one t ime more than 50 years ago. My best
friend had a 1960 Dodge Matador D500 4door sedan former police (sheriff)
unmarked car. It was equipped with a 383 ram inducted engine. One
evening while cruising the main drag he punched the gas pedal to the floor and
the throttles locked in that wide-open position. He promptly pushed the
NEUTRAL button and at the same time I reached over and switched off the
ignition--------we were rapidly approaching a red light at a major intersection.
YES a stupid act on the congested main drag. OH WELL.
Pulled over to the side of the road, lifted the hood and promptly discovered
that the bellcrank mounted atop the center of the rams had rotated too far
overcentering the 2 throttle links so that the springs could not return it to
idle. I'm not sure why we never fixed that problem or even explored
how to fix it. &nb sp;1963 was a long time ago and I forget. Anyway I
can't tell you if there is a rotation limiter on that bellcrank that failed, or
if the throttle links are adjustable and set too long. I don't have a ram
car to look at, nor even good photos. I'm just recommending that you
manually rotate the bellcrank to the full throttle limit to see if it might be
going too far and causing an over-center lock-up condition. Marshall Goodknight c300 with home
made linkage that won't lock up at full throttle
Hello and good morning, car people. Daily-driver status for my 300K, some of it at full
throttle. This included during a trip from Auctions America
Auburn (IN) Fall event). I mashed the pedal to make a pass, and the
throttle stuck wide-open. It has happened 2 times previously, both
corrected by quickly lifting it from underneath with my foot. This time it
was harder to dislodge, and was an uncomfortable 15 seconds to release it,
riding the brakes and prepared for a shut-down if necessary. I even pulled
it by hand. My 82 year old father, sitting in the front seat, waited about
a minute and broke the silence with a calm que stion: ?Has that happened
before??. 82 years as a car nut have steeled his nerves. Time for action, as I have no plans to drive that vehicle
without the chance to ?release the beast? (RAMS). Are there ?usual
suspects? to troubleshoot that I should have my capable MOPAR mechanic focus
upon? Do I remember reading that there is a plastic bit in the linkage
that is troublesome? The Auburn Fall Auction is a must-see, by the way, great
museums and activity, and a lot of auction cars (870) and a couple hundred in
the ?Car Corral?, where owners stick a price on the windshield and see what
happens. Sales were over $20M and 85,000 people attended. I watched
the 300L Convertible 4-sp., black over red, get chandelier-bid to $60,000, they
wanted $80,000. Unlik ely. Thanks in advance for your assistance. Hugh Baldus The Baldus Company 260.424.2366
