I would do the shrink wrap fix, that's what I did with mine about 4 years ago.  Goers sells a kit or you can just buy the shrink wrap online or at Fry's Electronics, that's where I got mine.

The shft cable on my 62 Sport Conv is leaking badly again - my temp fix didn' last.

Can anyne help with a new part source or a restoration contact?
