Thanks David, This has been a bit of a comedy! I decided a couple of weeks ago to try to get to the bottom of why my car ran lousy-as my camshaft is non-stock (Barnes) I want to try everything else before I replace it with a stock 300H camshaft I got from Fern. I earlier discovered my mech advance was coming in way too early ca. 300-400 rpm making a proper idle impossible, so it was rebuilt by Philbin and is performing as it should. New solid wire core ignition wires. New coil. Found vacuum leaks last week, from the intake manifold, but then the 35 year old starter failed. I spent a few days (off and on) crawling around under the car and over the car replacing it. (Great exercise!) I decided to cut the exhaust pipe back near the muffler to get the downpipe out of the way so I will have that to contend with eventually. But the car began this sudden stop business when I tried to move it. So that must be my next order of business. THEN I will get to install my new intake manifold gasket! Best Regards, Mike Moore 300H

I am going to talk to a local machine shop which specializes in drive train work. I may remove the entire rear end and haul it down there, as the u joints don’t seem that bad. (Do you know how much an entire rear axle, drums etc weighs? I am guessing at least 200#.) Go forward and it comes around and hits again. On jack stands under the axle, I also am able to rotate both rear wheels in either direction continuously without a lock up. My next step is to remove both rear drums and ensure there are no broken brake springs, but if I don’t see anything there, I have no idea where to look next.
