I live in sort of hinterlands in Michigan. A new
ethanol plant was built about 15 miles from where I live. The area was jublilant
because there would be new jobs and a boon to area farmers. The jobs were almost
all filled by experienced people from other locations. The corn was a boon to
the farmers, though. Well, it was a first, anyway. Not so much now.
There have been ongoing attempts in Congress ot get rid
of the subsidy for years. I don't think last year's was successful either. The
industry itself testifies that it no longer needs the subsidy to be
profitable ... but Washington lets it live on.
That stuff sure ain't any good for my "F" -- I know
that.
