`Hi Keith and Judy, You may have wondered why we drove our 1965 Imperial Crown Coupe to Mount Rainier instead of our 1957 Copper Brown 300C. Our granddaughter wanted to have the 1965 Persian White Imperial in her wedding on July 3. It is a very beautiful original car with Red leather interior. We owned it 36 years. We took it out of storage for her wedding and then entered it in the WPC Regional meet in The Dalles, Oregon , July 23 & 24, the next day we drove it to Issaquah, Washington to attend my brother’s granddaughter’s wedding and home to Portland by way of Mount Rainier, where we stayed overnight in Paradise Inn and celebrated our 56th wedding anniversary. Paradise Inn, built in 1916 and designated as one of the "Great Lodges of the West" is at an elevation of 5,400 feet with stunning views of wildflower meadows and the mountain. As we got out of the Imperial at Paradise Inn, people started taking pictures of the Imperial. A family from China and two men from France liked it and took many pictures. Someone left a note saying “This car is the best thing in the Park”. Every place we stopped, people asked about the Imperial and took more pictures. We hope to take our 1957 300C back to Mount Rainier again next year when we go to the 2017 National WPC Meet in Seattle. Chesnutt' chesnutt@xxxxxxxxxxxx [Chrysler300] Hi Keith, Today, I received the Old Cars Weekly News with your article, “Car of the Week: 1957 Chrysler 300C “, “300- Comeback”, is on pages 24 through 26. What a wonderful article. http://www.oldcarsweekly.com/car-of-the-week/car-of-the-week-1957-chrysler-300c Your date with Judy is similar to Arlys and I. I purchased our dream car, a 1957 Chrysler 300C - Copper Brown, on July 19, 1958 and took Arlys on our first date to Mount Rainier National Park in September 1958 where we drove around the mountain. I took a picture of Arlys sitting on the front bumper of our 1957 Chrysler 300C at the Stevens Canyon Road tunnel. Last July 26, 2015 we took the same trip to Mount Rainier in our 1965 Imperial Crown Coupe and took a picture of Arlys sitting on the back bumper at the same spot as the picture 57 years earlier. Now it looks different, there is a tree in the back ground and Arlys has grey hair. The picture of Arlys can be seen on the Club website - GALLERY OF MEMBERS' CARS We are sorry that we are unable to attend the Spring Meet in Holland, MI and see your beautiful Gauguin Red 300C. John From: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Keith Boonstra kboonstra@xxxxxxxxxxxx [Chrysler300] Thanks for all the great comments on the story. About halfway down the story you'll see a reference to it being a "10 mph Chrysler". I actually drove it even faster than that from time to time. When I wrote the article originally, I called it a "10 MPG Chrysler". Just a little typo. Looking forward to seeing many of you in a coupla weeks!
