Yeah ----that is where my 300F broke down on way from Madison to Boston , where I flew in and bought it, about 1970 ,--- on Dan Ryan . What a day even then. Caused major mayhem.. back brakes burning in left lane about 6 pm just before skyway turn. . Why I am super sensitive about that little nail thrust pin. Guy I bought it from, being an expert on 300’s left it out. When it fell out…he knew something was wrong as all shims were gone at autopsy. No thrust pin, drums ride high on axle centerline drag on bottom of shoes . Only happens after about an hour at 60. Came back about 3 k $ lighter. Listen to Noel ! Agree, assuming Lake Michigan is not raging. Coming from southern regions, you may consider running over to northbound I-39 somewhere south of Chi-Town to miss our construction and congestion driving through town. Or, plan to drive through on I-294 around midnight, as I did returning from Detroit Sunday night. I would avoid I-90/I-94 through downtown at all costs. Take in the sights around Traverse City and the famous Sleeping Bear Dunes state park, and then park your ride on the SS Badger for a 4 hour ride across Lake Michigan to Manitowoc, WI and on to Elkhart Lake. You'll add a pile to your memories of the meet. Judy and I hope to do so ourselves.
