Hey .. You got that all backward . Squeezing it makes a hot liquid ; when the liquid hits a lower pressure ( other side of orifice or expansion valve ) it evaporates ( in the evaporator!) absorbing heat . Warmer vapor out of there ( the cool suction line to compressor) gets compressed to very hot gas . Which is then very hot in condenser , where it throws heat off and turns back to liquid by end of condenser . Into receiver/ dryer can . Back to expansion again . As needed . That being said. An intermittant action has a high probability of being ice . Needs correct system evacuation and a new dryer . If not done right you can get moisture in while changing the lines to gauges . Has to be a pro with right stuff . Adapters etc make that hard on old systems with new refrigerants . Fittings all different . Havevto put some charge in to get a few psi before breaking vacuum , To keep air / moisture out . Then full lb charge . Tricky .
