Years ago I purchased a case of 12 volt bulls eye bulbs at a swap meet in Kansas after seeing them many years earlier and staying away from the strange things. I found that they were for the 12 volt crown imperials through 55. Part numbers never shown in the 56 and up parts manuals of course. Ended up selling the case lot to someone in Pa area who shared them with their friends and next time I was a Hershey I saw a number of 56’s with bullseye bulbs. Always wondered if the judges had known enough to dock them in judging. Have picked up many 6 volt bulbs and have some NOS ones yet and many used ones. Sadly never ran onto case of NOS 6 volts ones though. First car I put a set of NOS ones on was being driven to show north of here and I sadly met gravel truck on highway with a load and dropping some in morning and it took out one of the bulbs sadly. Coming home after dark that evening I got ticket for only having one headlight also. Not my best day! Anyway remember the bullseye catches all the stray rays and makes a stronger beam! Regarding the Bulls Eye headlamps, I've seen them on 1955 cars and even a few on 12 volt 1956 Crown Imperial Limos and 8 passenger sedans. Those 12 volt examples are really rare and may be a carry over from the earlier 12 volt POSITIVE ground Crown Imperials. John L. From: Don Warnaar <300country@xxxxxxx> I tried to take note of the VIN number on the door jamb, but it is just too blurry when enlarging. We would know if the Club had any history on the car. It sort of looks like 3N55 1502 or something similar. Our database does not show a black '55 with a number close to that. John, you would know this. When did Chrysler discontinue using Autolite bulls eye headlamps? I thought they might still be using them on the '55. This car does not have them, which is normal considering it has been 62 years ago.
