All this says to me , if going stock drums, which is fine, keep the old shoes and the matching “worn in correctly drums”, wherever possible . Nothing wrong with some scores in drums. Leave them alone. The new ones will be scored in 5 k miles. Sometimes we change out things that are only 20% used , in the name of “restoring it” and then bring on a host of truly noxious intermittent brake problems….my .02 after 45 years of this..which started with F brakes that drove me crazy when they were only 5 years old. All new stuff, in 1965 or so, end result was far worse than it was before I got into it. Grabbing , squealing , pulling, hassles galore. Despite my ability / experience on building 5-6 hot rods before that, I could never get them to work right .I found a guy in a brake and clutch shop in Cambridge, (remember those?—big “bear alignment “ out front) who could make it work, ---with my parts, even. Galling., ---and so impressed I later hired him to build x ray machines! Not like that now, doing brakes, but a long and very rocky road learning. That road starts with ‘new brake shoes”. Now we add in a variable, new friction materials too. Be sure you really need them!! Kind of like all new teeth. Nice idea, but…. That being said , replace everything hydraulic or rubber in brakes, master and wheel cylinders ---and for me, silicone brake fluid is de rigour…same as military. If you go the other way, you MUST change it every three years or so. A rust pit in wheel cylinders or master sends pedal to the floor one fine day at 70. . Just finishing AAJ brakes on an F , I had never done that personally before, I am super impressed with this company….the kit is really complete, every piece is top end , high quality..hoses, everything , master , adapter fittings , rear proportioning control, are in it. Beautifully executed and thought out caliper adaption plate , calipers, excellent overall engineering, another adapter plate for included 2 bolt GM Corvette style master . Machined wheel bearing spindle adapter a work of art(larger wheel bearings!) . A list of what cars the readily sourced parts are from. Worth the slight premium over the big guys for a beautiful effort , by an obviously smart , experienced guy. All this with the engineering hat on…. A 5 star thing. Worth every cent for the deluxe kit. Made for our cars. Going to feed back some stuff, engagement depth of push rod into master , pedal up, a little precarious , other than that slight misgiving, , a great thing John Grady From: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of RICK AND DEBBIE CLAPHAM rixpac@xxxxxxx [Chrysler300] Our City fleet maintenance garage installed a HEPA Vacuum as part of brake/clutch service. Asbestos is used cautiously even today. The HEPA system contained the dangerous fiber particles and fine dust that is associated with clutch and brake service. even the grindings from the Ammco 8000 brake shoe arch grinder/surface machine. I am sure you could find brake shops that employ these devices. From: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx <Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> on behalf of 'John L. Something about Federal Law. Just my two cents worth. John From: Ray Jones [mailto:1970hurst@xxxxxxxxx] Try this:

Several years got (4?) I was in contact with a transmission shop in Portland which had a brake business also. The owner was a long time letter car person and very knowledgable . He said he had a stock of the correct asbestos to reline my shoes. I carefully marked each shoe and I mailed them to him. I had my drums measured here at a brake shop. Two of them had to be turned, but all 4 were measured, I emailed the measurements to the shop and after relining, they ground the shoes to the correct diameter. Curiously enough, there is a USPS Priority box size which exactly contains either one or two axles sets of shoes , and that is how they came home. It was all very slick. I do no know the shop name but he was independent in Portland and a Chrysler guy. Mike Moore 300H On Aug 8, 2017, at 9:42 AM, 'John L. The best thing for your would be to drive to Portland, since you are about 200 miles away. Use UPS - 3 day turn around according to the phone call I made today. They have several types of lining, but when they did ours only one type was available. They are mainly an Industrial supply house and supply truck parts etc. Bill, if you have any questions call me at: 503-228-7798.
