If you're having your car judged or just love it to be as close to stock as possible, I understand trying to find quality replacements to replicate the originals spring clamps.

What I don't understand are people who try to continue to seal coolant and fuel hoses with spring clamps when they've done a disc brake conversion, upgraded to radials, painted their car with a two stage paint, and are listening to music through hidden audio. I see this all the time at shows. I like using surloc clamps on my BMW's and am now adopting them on my classics along side properly sized screw style clamps for a cleaner look that offers better performance over time.

I agree that a lot of Chinese stuff is pure junk and they know when they make it. But we love that it's so cheap and buy it anyway.

I don't know where mine were made offhand, but they seem to have sealed perfectly for six years now. If they were made in China, they must have come from a rare wire company that cares. I have quite a few of them and can help some out who need them.

Many of the originals have been “sprung” by opening them too much takes steel in the wire beyond steel yield point — never work well again . You do need the right tool to control that .

Easy to ruin with pliers.

I do not like look t too much but have taken to using worm drive clamps and breaking off the tail left over , right at the clamp , and putting worm underneath . Looks a lot better than 1” tail hanging off

Tried to replace the screw type clamps holding the upper and lower radiator hoses in my 64 Chrysler 300K (413 cu in, 4 brl, no a/c). The repro spring type clamps that I bought fit but weren't tight enough to stop antifreeze leakings when the engine was started. Any one have or know where to get original spring type clamps for a 64 300K that hopefully would have a tighter fit. Used are fine as long as tight. Need 4 of them. Thanks for any help.
