I think the 57 he references is a D501, which used the Chrysler engine. Purpose built race car for nascar.

I’ve met him a few times at Owls Head. He’s a Ford guy first but does own an unrestored Cunningham w/ a 331 Hemi w/ Weber carbs. That DeSoto gaffe was pretty bad. He made a couple of other misinformed statements as well. Guess I thought he would have known a ‘57 D500 would have had a 325 Hemi. Even the owner seemed to have forgotten the displacement, however....
