[Chrysler300] Why Wheelbase

Why did Chrysler decide to produce the smaller wheelbase

in 1957 for the low price model lines?

57 Windsor --- 122"

57 Sara, NYr, 300 --- 126"

Chrysler continued that practice up to 63 when

everything went 122". 

Seems like a lot of work -- 

you need unique fenders, hood, 

sub frame.......

pretty good chunk of tooling expense for 

your economy priced car..

??
