No need for new cable — and can be a bear to change dash end. See Gary Goers kit for this  at Quirey now, or use large shrink tube and weatherstrip  cement    .

Imho , and experience, the throttle shaft seal above is usually where big flows come out when it drains back and they  all do drain back . Sooner or later . Maybe we look into a better material modern seal as resto project . NOS seals for 50 trans probably all hard too . I wonder if 727 seal is the same . Don  V may know .. . I do not.

Hi Mark, more than likely it’s the rubber sheath that covers the shift cable. When the car sits for extended periods, the torque converter drains back into the pan, the fluid level rises to the point it gets into the shift cable. The tranny fluid deteriorates the rubber and it leaks.... I trimmed the rubber on the cable of my G, pulled the rubber down and then clamped it back in place. This is not an ideal fix, but I am not aware of replacement cables. Richard

I placed a drip pan under the engine / transmission when I put the car away for the Winter.

Unfortunately, come Spring, the drip pan contained 1-1/2 pints of red fluid.

I purchased more type F trans fluid from Fleet Farm and plan to add it at start up.

Any thoughts or recommendations are appreciated...
