I can't address the 300K, but the Hemi Charger is most likely leaking from the gear selector shaft seal. This would be on the driver side of the trans, where the shift linkage attaches. You can change it without any heroics with a tool they sell to remove the seal or you can drop the pan and valve body (my preference) and change the seal. It's pretty common, especially as they get a little older. High mileage cars may have wear in the shaft too.

The fluid runs down the side and around the pan, leading a lot of guys to replace what they think is a leaky pan gasket.

My cars always seem to be like my dog, marking their territory, so I've done this fix a couple times.

BTW, I came close to owning a '66 Hemi Charger back in the 80's. Real nice car too $4000. I just couldn't swing it at the time. I was storing the car for a friend and occasionally driving and I just loved the car. . One of the best running Hemi cars I've ever been it.

Got the same problem with my 64 300K convert. Can't find a leak but find red fluid (not a lot) under engine when car is left standing. Checked trans fluid and dipstick shows full even though some fluid underneath. Go figure!

Also find same thing under my 66 hemi charger!

I placed a drip pan under the engine / transmission when I put the car away for the Winter.

Unfortunately, come Spring, the drip pan contained 1-1/2 pints of red fluid.

I purchased more type F trans fluid from Fleet Farm and plan to add it at start up.

Any thoughts or recommendations are appreciated..
