Been using a 3 inch piece of black heater hose for the rubber wedge for 30 years.  CHEAP

  Chris,
I hope you were able to adjust your power steering pump belt with Bob's video, but if the pump still jumps around after tightening, your bracket may be worn. The holes in the bracket where the long lower bolt goes will wear out and need to be repaired. You can remove the bracket and have the holes welded and redrilled. The rubber bumper was missing on my bracket and I replaced it with a piece of high-density rubber about 1/8 inch thick and 1 inch wide and 2 inches long.. I just let it slide down the gap between the two halves of the bracket.
Happy 300ing,

Hi Chris,

Go to our club website Tech Department. Bob has a short, concise video about adjusting the power steering bracket which I think addresses your problem. It's kind of a weird self-tensioning/while running setup. In other words you don't adjust the belt "tight" like most cars

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Is there really just one, half inch nut on a three inch bolt holding the steering pump tension for the belt? I tried everything and still won't get tight. I'm afraid I'll snap the bolt if I continue to over tighten... Thanks in advance.
