The lower portion of that rod has an end that screws in or out to extend or shorten the length of that rod. And that adjustment allows for the 113 to 115 degree angle. Its Step #1 of the overall adjustment procedure, after sliding in that rod on the firewall. Once I really worked out that step; it immensely helped the overall set up of the linkage for my 1962 300 & the feel of the pedal. I never thought out that step was a big enough deal to be concerned about; but it is. I finally went and bought one of these…. Fixed it. Matt Allyn
