Dan Plotkin: Thanks for the post and pix. I previously bought and installed repro plates in our ’55 and noted they were not as stiff/strong/stout/thick as the originals and were too easy to deform when installing them. Did you notice these issues with the Van’s/Park plates? The RHS looks a little crinked. In any case, installers are advised to treat them gently as you try to get carpet, windlace and screw holes lined up. Thickness, alloy, strength and post stamping heat treatment may be different—resulting in the repro’s being a little delicate. They are lovely and represent considerable time and investment by the vendor—much appreciated.
