I have several of those early alternators.  In fact my '65 Barracuda which I bought new still has its original one in place.  I've never noticed the "LESTER" on any of them and I believe they were manufactured by Leece-Neville.

Here is a site that will describe/decode the alternator markings:  Plum crazy tech info (plumcrazygarage.com)

 

There is a front and back casting – check both.  Lester would be an older casting.  If the unit went through a rebuilder at some point the front and back will likely not match.  Forward Look symbol was still used on 1963 model year alternators.   It is worth something more than core value for someone who wants a certain date coded casting.

If memory serves me Lester made those for Chrysler early on until Chrysler could make them, my guess is someone is looking for it and as long as the fins and the halves are in good condition whether it works or not is incidental. Does it have a Forward Look logo on it anywhere?

Hello All,

 

I have this Mopar Alternator 2095191 marked LESTER under that number then 3 under Lester.  This is a single pully unit.

 

On the battery terminal, it is marked 2098830 and then 48-62 (assume 48^th week of 1962)?  It turns freely, but I have not tested it.  Is this original part a valuable piece or just an original core?  Thank you.
