So are you saying that everything was working fine, then your husband
brought the car to a detailing place and when he left, all of a sudden the
lights were messed up ? If so, then the detailing guy may have disturbed
whatever your mechanic did, causing the problem you describe. It sounds like
your mechanic used a small piece of wire to jump over the rheostat, which is
a coiled spring that causes the dash lights to dim or brighten. But that
wire came loose and is now touching something else, causing the condition
you describe. This is a poor fix, even if it is temporary. And now you see
why.

It sounds like you have a broken or damaged rheostat in the headlight
switch. While waiting for your electrical guy to return from vacation, it
would be a good idea to research the headlight switch. Get the original
Chrysler part number from the factory parts book. Then determine what other
years/makes/models used the same switch. If you're lucky, you can find a NOS
switch. But you may need to replace it with one from a parts car.

Hi Ron, the first thing I invested in was a CD manual on the car and printed
every page of it!  Then I found an original manual at a car show.  The guy
who temporarily wired the car read the schematics from the manual that I
took.  He is a wire guy.  He showed me exactly what he did.  My husband is
not mechanical inclined, but I am.  The wires intimidate me, there are to
many.  I found two guys who do wiring.  One is the older gentlman I saw and
the other does not come back from his vacation til about another week.  In
the mean time I won't move my car because I don't want it to catch on fire.
All the lights come on when I step on the brake, that did not happen until
my husband got my car detailed.
