RE: {Chrysler 300} 62 300 parts

If you search for choke tube repair kit in ebay motors you may find something that works.  I also don’t know about the H manifold but I fitted one suited to the 392.

Hi ,

Just an observation and I do  not know about H manifold specifically but 392 hemi uses this setup  —- be aware only air is supposed to pass through it . Two holes drilled in manifold in line (stock ) a steel tube passes through and out other side . Vacuum pulls air through tube heats choke .——air , not exhaust

Very unfortunately the steel tube rusts inside the manifold due to attack by engine acids etc , and so soon exhaust gas is drawn into carb . If you see black in choke thermo cover —this happens , it ruins the choke .

So rather easy to fix or add , it would seem on any exhaust manifold by drilling two holes in line with a long drill  that are a close fit on OD of steel tubing of proper size and passing brake line of proper size through and out the other side , then bend to fit right . Don’t worry about minor leak it will rust shut or use stove cement .  Some had woven insulation tube over it . Also 426 hemi uses that vacuum choke cover ( reproduced) it fit my wcfb . Should fit H carbs . The angle of inlet varies , fit anyway . If carbon got in clean out suction passage in carb .

Cupro nickel brake like probably better against rust and easy to bend .

Copper tube best of all ( or stainless) but purists object and want the  original rust problem . ( can’t resist)

Hope this info helps .

PS , Packards use this , more elaborate cast passage in exhaust manifold for air it even had a “looks like little dryer hood”  over air intake . It all rusts solid, clogged inside with rust flakes . So they had a little kit that holds a small folded sheet metal box open on one tide attached onto the exhaust manifold , about half the size of cigarette pack with a deep 10/32 U bolt . On top was a tapping for a brake line fitting , the air went up to carb through that . So an old problem from 30’s at least . This box works well . Air leaks in around edges .

I also am seeking this item:

I am looking for an H passenger side exhaust manifold with the fitting for the heat tube to the carburetor.

(If there is a second one after Drew gets dibs on one, please let me know!)

Thanks

Hello all, I am looking for a few things before Fall Hershey for my Uncle Howards 62 300 Sort.

The car has dual inline 4 barrels almost done properly like the H. I did get the correct coil bracket and return spring brackets from Neil at Dynamic Restorations but was wondering if anyone has any suggestion on paint for these brackets. I feel like it will be impossible to make them look right against the 60 year old engine paint. From my research they should match the block color.

I would like to find two air filter lids that are gold. The ones on this car are chrome which I learned is not correct.

I am looking for an H passenger side exhaust manifold with the fitting for the heat tube to the carburetor. I have all of that set up but it is kind of rigged up into the sport 413 manifold for a single 4 barrel.

I am planning to call the guys who took over Gary Goers inventory tomorrow for a trunk mat. I have never found any good trunk mats for these era mopars so any input would be appreciated on this.

Last two things I am looking for is a source for the spring type heater hose and radiator hose clamps, and proper intake manifold bolts. These seem to be miss matched somehow.

Oh last thing, this car seems to have seat belt mounts in the rear floor but I have yet to come across the belts or buckles. If anyone has anything, or any idea what I should even have I would appreciate that also. Or maybe those eyelets would be there regardless of if seatbelts were installed. Thanks again for any info.
