I ran out of town to our place where I have the 300K. I pulled the spare and had the never used tire removed. The wheel measures out at 6 inches wide. The back space is 4 inches.
On the rim it is stamped with 14x6K. It also has a round lettered stamp that says “Kelsy Hayes”. It also what looks like a date code around the 14x6K of “9 63”. Which I interpret as September 1963 which is consistent with the fact that this is a early
production car.
The flange to flange distance where the hubcap fingers should grab is 13-5/8 inch more or less. The center hole is 2-7/8 inch. The stem is 1-3/4 inch from the inside of the wheel lip to the center line of the end of the stem.
There is also a “ 6 {stem hole} 0” or a “0 {stem hole} 9” stamped around the stem hole depending on which way you want to look at it.
As far as I can tell, this wheel has never been on a car. The lug holes have no marks on them that would show up with lug nuts torqued down into them. The yellow paint has never been removed. Both sides look like new. I had to rub HARD with Acetone to
get the factory paint to come off. No doubt that factory black spray paint on them. No primer.
Since this car is documented at 98K, I think it is very likely this is a factory wheel and the above are the specifications of the wheel.
See the attached.
