Re: {Chrysler 300} 1961 G convertible local car

It’s an impressive effort this club makes to record every known VIN.

Frankly having 124 out 337 known assemblies is an incredibly high percentage…

Our club’s publicly available website has a registry page which shows 124 surviving 300-G convertibles:

As Noel points out, the roster of each year’s letter series surviving cars by VIN cycles through our members-only print publication every six years or so.

Hank & Friends,

Every few years, we publish a listing of ‘known to our Club’ Letter Cars of a particular year in our quarterly News-Flite publications. Listed in numeric serial number sequence, we note which are convertibles, factory color, and if junked. Colors of the factory ‘999’ special order paint cars are not always known.

I can check the G ragtop numbers when I get home from babysitting duty.

I realize I should know this…but of the original 337 how many do we know actually survive? (That’s a Gloria Moon question, I think).

To John’s point: almost any surviving G convertible is worth sacrificing a variety of non letter donor cars in order to save…given the incredibly low (by Detroit standards) production numbers.

of course I may just be crazy but that’s what our total effort is all about….and why we are dedicated to these cars.

As a west coast car it’s probably much less rusty than other G convertibles that have been rescued in the rustier parts of the continental United States.

An age-old question I guess.  How bad does a G convertible have to be to not be worth saving?  There were only 337 to begin with.  Maybe not worth a show-car restoration, but maybe a safe, driver quality refurb?

Hi club members, I just a look at a 1961 G convert for sale in Oregon City. OR. The guy wanted $67,000 for a Black car and a tan interior. He called me and said he would take $50,000. The car is good for only a restoration or parts car. I will not buy this car, it can not be a driver. Call me if your interested about the description. I have then VIN and data plate info
