Hi Bob , no — I think when new —it looked like clear water . unless memory fails . But they do yellow more or less with age . So up to you .. slight yellowing looks ok . Cracking was the main problem on mine . I went to see a brand new F in 1960 at a dealership showroom in Lexington ma . The steering wheel and astrodome , lots of chrome on dash captured me instantly , along with that great fin treatment . Image of steering wheel is a strong memory .
-- That tail light belongs in MOMA ! on steering wheels , i had ?3-4 done over quite a few years by Dennis Carpenter . I mean really perfect . Better than Chrysler ! Before that a nice guy in NC did 2 or 3 them for me —- about 90% of Dennis work quality but at the time half the $ . Took a long time , — Dennis too . The NC fellow either stopped or passed away . I personally think Dennis‘ quality is worth it , —— I mean try to do it yourself? And such a big part of the 300 look . Dennis also did a very hard to do Packard “ banjo” style wheel , with a cream plastic rim for me . It now has stainless steel spokes ( he got rid of chromed steel ) . He would not restore just the plastic , he insisted stock Packard wheel was weak , a design flaw where spokes attach to center hub . Turns out he was right . corrosion was there . fixing rim would have been a waste of money . Experience really matters , on ours too . I had to convince myself that 1.5 x the low ball price that then gets you a 5 x better wheel is worth it ; it is actually only the .5 increment one should think about … given value of car ….. Still smarts , the $ , but i sure cannot do it . All in all , —like Noel , very happy every time I look at it . We are so lucky he is there … jkg Sent from my iPhone On Apr 27, 2023, at 4:41 PM, Cox <scooter465@xxxxxxx> wrote:
