64 300K OE would have been 8.50-14. The evolution went thru 8.55-14, H78-14, and finally 225/75R14 with each size getting progressively lower section height (and overall diameter). The best substitution would probably be a 235/75R14 if you can find at reasonable price (joke).
The non-letter 1962-64 300 base size was 8.00-14 (which evolved
to the 215/75R14 - with similar reduction in diameter), though the
more common size was the 8.50-14, particularly if car had factory
air conditioning. While the 215/75R14 would probably have adequate
load capacity, particularly at its higher rated pressure (44 psi
max), but car will sit significantly lower to ground than original
8.50-14.
A reasonable equivalent - at least in my mind - would be the Diamond Back H78-14 which is a near copy of the vintage Michelin H78-14.
Another option would be to back date to 300 J 15 inch wheels and
wheel covers and go with 235/75R15 which are easier to find in
near correct narrow whitewall.
Is the 215/75R-14 a correct tire size for a 64 300 ?--
Thanks--
