Re: {Chrysler 300} SHIFT CABLE

i don’t  know it an o ring inside the cable end ? i don’t think so , as Gary sold kits to shrink tube outer plastic sheath that cracks and leaks . I have done that , factory had that sheath that runs till cable is higher than internal oil .
But a very important O ring is on the outside the plug that goes into trans .
On my experience that leaks a lot of the time . Seems low quality and gets hard .
It is a strange size as tire part ( cross section) is thicker than “ standard o ring “ with that hole .
After quite a search I found viton o ring  at mc master carr a little too thick but goes in problem solved. Sorry don’t have # right now

I have used Imperial Services for….
- Motor Mounts
- Transmission Mount + Bumper that lives in the crossmember below the trans.
- Speedometer Cable
- Shifter Cable
- Power Steering Pump Bumper
Multiply that by three; for all 3 of my ’62’s.

Totally satisfied with all items for the cars.
No leaks with the Shifter Cable & been in our Sport for the past 3 years.

The Shifter Cable has an O-Ring at the transmission end.
That O-Ring creates the seal from inside there transmission & keep the fluid from running up the cable.

Hi Club members,

I'm thinking of buying a new Shift Cable for my 1962 300 Sport Convertible.
Has anyone bought one from Imperial Services or Mopamall.com or Herb's Parts ?
Can you please share your positive and/or negative comments on the shift cable you bought and who you bought it from ?
Did you buy one and did it leak through the cable in a short time ?

Also looking at the photos of these cables, is there an internal seal at the end that goes into the transmission to prevent fluid going into the cable  or will transmission fluid naturally go up into the cable ?
