Thanks Josh - the last time I had any done they ran me $375.00 each, but that was back in the ‘90s, although those bumpers are still good.  Considering what Ks are selling for, $4,000.00 for bumpers would amount to 20% of the value of the car.

$1300 is a good price on those bumpers.  Then again, it depends on what kind of quality it is.  It is important when choosing a chrome plating shop to ask how they process bumpers. 1) do you strip them to raw steel or just to the nickel?  2) do you remove dents, dings, and air file the surface? 3) do you buff the copper prior to final nickel and chrome plating?  Most bumpers that size at a reputable shop that does the above steps, the cost per bumper can be anywhere from $1600-$2200 per bumper.  I know that sounds like a lot when you are the customer, but if you were in their shoes, it’s not.  Like everything, chrome plating is expensive.  The days of $600 bumpers are long gone.  If they are $600, they are probably not worth putting on your car.  I don’t work for a plating shop anymore, but am always happy to share the knowledge I have of that industry with anyone who is interested.  Feel free to email me if anyone in 300 land has questions about plating.
