Re: {Chrysler 300} Electrical Help on 300G

hi — there is a yellow wire to the starter  relay on the fender  well that comes from the ignition switch , it powers that start relay , but ground  of that relay is through the transmission neutral switch . That switch must be closed ( grounds that  wire in N
may be coincidence .
try jumping the wire to neutral switch to ground. if so you found problem , N switch adjustment can be fussy , also push R and D then N , maybe first , see if it starts
if not that issue  , put a voltmeter or test light from yellow at the start relay to ground , it should go to 12 when you turn key to start
If it does and N wire is ok , it is maybe bad relay but that is rare .. if no 12 , check wire at ignition switch etc
under dash the yellow wire could get pulled off the ignition switch somehow ? be sure of wires — there are other yellow . this is one at ignition switch . may be others . see picture of ignition switch back
 in fsm electrical schematic
hope this helps ..
above from memory , should be right

The other day I was removing the speedometer cable to get it repaired.  So in doing so on my back with my hand under the dash to unscrew it, I must have done something to the wiring.  I was about to head out to a car show this morning and when starting the car, nothing!

I checked to make sure I was in neutral and I was.  The courtesy as well as the lights and turn signals work.  However I noticed when I turned the key, the gas gauge usually moves and it didn't.  I did notice the amp gauge slightly moved when I turned the key as well as the parking brake light dim.  The battery is showing 12.5v.  There was no sound from the starter.

When looking underneath the dash, I could not see any wire out of place or not connected.  I have no clue as to what I may have disconnect, but certainly I did something.

I would greatly appreciate any ideas on how to trouble shoot this.

John

PS....Just in case, does anyone know of a good mechanic in the Boston area that could work on it (I live near Portsmouth NH) just in case I need to tow it!
