Those alternators have the shank in the lower bolt holes.Both my ’62’s have them.You can tap it rearwards to get it further from the fan belt.It uses a long shoulder bolt (with nut) to run through the base of the Alternator Mount & the Alternator “ears” that straddle the mount.I never really understood what the shank insert was for, but all of my cars (with A/C) have that piece.Matt AllynOn Oct 23, 2024, at 2:07 PM, torg66 <torg66@xxxxxxxxx> wrote:Hi group, I asked about the size of the lower mounting bolt, no answer yet.
