{Chrysler 300} 1964 electric seats

Anyone out there have a seat mechanism out and on the bench? I got one from Murray for the passenger side of the car and after cleaning and lubing I bench tested it and I cannot get the unit to go up and down.

Bob has suggested that one may need to have weight on it to assist the wind-up springs. As now it stands the motor just sits there and it will burn up if power is kept on it.

The one thing that I noted is that the forward to rear gear box…one can turn the output (screw jack) and it will turn the input shaft. On the Up and Down screw jack one cannot turn the screw jack (output)…it is just locked. One can turn the input on that jack and the screw turns but not the other way.

I do not know if that is normal or an indication of a problem. I just know that on the bench if I power the up-down jack nothing happens. The motor is working so it is not that.

I have had a conversation with Bob on this and I am wondering if anyone else has any experience on these. Later today I will add weight and see what happens.
