Hi Ron,

I wrote the definitive article about the Thatcher 300-D for Collectible Automobile in 2015. There was another special D at Daytona that I addressed. Column shifts from “factory” though the Thatcher car had the trans changed later.

I just watched the video shot at the McCandless Collection museum. One of the cars presented is a 300D raced by Norm Thatcher. Steve Magnante describes the car, then shows us the interior. The car has a manual transmission with a floor shifter. At the 2005 convention in Monterey, CA, there was another 300D (#1515) that I believe was used for racing. Also a manual shift car. Does anyone remember if that car had a floor shift or column shift ?
