The Vanderbrink auction in Hebron NE today was fun and there were some great deals including the $17.5K purchase price on the 300H.

Overall, a solid driver with fairly rust-free body, great trim and glass although some was not original.  I had difficulty seeing the engine stamping but was able to make out “S41 HP” but could read the month/day.  No evidence of crash repair.  Paint 7/10 with nice gaps and straight panels.

Under the hood, everything was in place although the intake, carburetors (Carters), and linkage were not correct.  Did start easily and sounded like your standard solid lifter 413.  Correct exhaust manifolds, A/C hardware, cruise control, dual point distributor with cable drive tach.  Jiffy Jet pump and hardware intact.  Very and rust free.

Underside was very nice…rocker panels rust free, lots of factor under coating.  Rear leaf springs looked tired, passenger trunk drop had filler, driver side rust free. Stainless rocker trim very nice but some rash on dog legs and philips screw fasteners.  Side stainless spears and drip rail molding beautiful!  Front and rear bumpers likely rechromed, rear bumper missing bumper guards.

Interior was weakest part of the car…owner had a penchant for velour as it was the material of choice on several cars at the auction.  Hardware very nice, Astradome instrument cluster clean and without scratches, cast chrome bash and switch gear suprisingly nice,  7-button radio, console clean but trim could use some metal finishing.  Tempered original door sills nice, solid door corners and seams rust free.

A solid buy and hard to go wrong at that price point.  Some TLC and work on the interior and the new owner will have a very nice car and not be outrageously upside down.

I didn’t say this but my favorite car of the auction was the ‘59 Cadillac Fleetwood.  Stunning car.  Sold for $34K.  Someone is happy!

There is a 300H for sale - if any club members are interested, I’d be happy to do an onsite inspection and assist with temporary storage (Omaha).

I know nothing about the car history but, having bought cars that spent time near the NE/KS border, the climate is very kind to bodies and sheet metal.
