RE: {Chrysler 300} 300D/300E/300H Air Filter Elements

K&N has the tall oval filters for the 1957 300s      https://www.knfilters.com/chrysler/300/392-v8-carb/1957/

They will make any size filter you want

I had them make a couple shorter ones  for my D about 10 years ago

I made a jig that held the tall oval air  filter   and mounted it to a  band saw  to cut off about 3/4 of an inch .

then Gary would drop  the cut off piece into a mold  to put rubber on the other end .

Quiery  Has the jig/ band saw  for molding the  short  air  filters  .

They got at least 75 Wix tall air  filters  to be cut down .

there is no way  they have used all those up .

 Give them a call

Put the correct  air  filter  in  your oval cleaner !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have pictures  of a set if anybody  would like to see  them ..

As our cars age, some maintenance parts are getting harder and harder to get. Air filter elements being one of those. Matt Allyn was showing me how he had a round air filter element squashed to fit his 300H air cleaners. The original Fram number for the 300H is CA163PL. These were also used by the 300D and 300E, as well as other Mopars that used these oval air cleaners.

The round filter he has in there is the Fram CA184. I bought some from Autozone for $5.99 each to try it out. They are pretty easy to squeeze into the oval shape but it is a tight fit. A slightly smaller diameter would work better but I couldn't find anything in my 1970 Fram catalog that would be better. I found it's easier to squeeze it into the lid of the air cleaner first, as it needs to fit all the way into the recess in the top. Then I put the base on and worked the filter to fit in there. Once it's done, it looks pretty good and when bolted to the carb, it's not going anywhere.

Here is a link to pictures.
