Re: {Chrysler 300} 300-L Tire and Wheel sizes -

I see I made a mistake and wrote 215/70R-15 when I meant to write 215/70R-14.  Sorry for any confusion.

15 inch tires are a lot easier to obtain, with a lot more choice.  No doubt.

You can still order whitewall Hankooks up to 235 75 15s through Tire Rack. My local Discount tire actually received them in about 3 days and they were waiting for me to install them. Put them on my 300L last year. Easy peasy. Just not as convenient as walking in and getting whitewalls like back in the day.
Diamondbacks are better than Coker btw. Less prone to failures and a little cheaper ( not much at all) and especially if you like the correct width whitewalls over the Hankooks 3/4" standard one.

I have this convenient tire conversion chart bookmarked.   https://www.tirerack.com/upgrade-garage/how-do-i-convert-old-tire-sizes

You'll see the stock size 8.55-14 crosses over to a 225/75R-14.

The issue is that size tire is only readily available through some of the specialty tire sellers like Coker Tire and they dig very deep into your wallet for their tires.  Some have great luck with these specialty tires and some don't.

If you go one size smaller, to a 215/75R-14, you can easily get a tire at a local tire shop, but finding a tire that size in a whitewall (like the original) is harder.  A blackwall Hankook tire can be found for under $100..  Go to a 215/70R-15 and you can find some white letter tires if that's your thing, but the tire will be about 3/4" smaller in diameter.

Hope this helps, John Sager

Hello all, I am new to the Chrysler Club/family. I just recently purchased a ‘65 300 L. I am in need of replacing the tires. It is currently wearing P215/70R14 all around but the spare is a P215/75R15. What is the correct tire size? Can I assume the 14 inch rims are correct?
