Hi Neal!
Lets say that most were two door posts primarily because of
the inherent ridgidity of the body(high section modulus) Bud Fauble ran a
'63 Dodge 440 two door hardtop (tuned by Bill Jenkins) in A/FX and in '64
he ran a Dodge model 440 hardtop # 707 in S/SA quite successfully ,he also
ran a lightweight two door post in A/FX #709.I believe those were factory
cars.Dick Landy also ran a '64 Dodge 440 Hardtop #675 in S/SA.
Bill Flynn ran a Dodge model 440 hardtop as the "Yankee Peddler" #545 in
A/MP
(may not have been a factory car but a strong runner nontheless).
There were more so you're in good company!
Personally, I prefere the hardtop as well ,if you're going to race your car
install frame connectors ,its easy and painless and it will stiffen up the
hardtop body.

Subject: post question reframed
OK, maybe the title of my thread got it off to a bad start- " Do I need
to be ashamed because I dont have a post?" I am not really ashamed,
just questioning the authenticity of my retro-resto.I appreciate the
loving support about my " post shame complex", but I was just really
trying to ask this question-
Let me ask again- did all the factory racecars come as post cars?
P.S.- I really like the looks of a hardtop better anyway.
